Anna DeGuzman -The Cardistry Queen from NYC
Magic was in the air this past weekend in New York City as the talented cardist, Anna DeGuzman made her long-awaited return to her home city. The stage was set as the dim glow of pink fluorescent lights lit up the room. The crowd murmured in hushed tones awaiting DeGuzman’s arrival to the stage. Anxious to see the mesmerizing cardist, the audience watched her magic journey on the screens seeing her traverse through America’s Got Talent with her awe-inspiring tricks and routines. The video cut off and applause filled the room. The click of her suede boots thudded off the stage floors. The Queen of Cards, Anna DeGuzman was here and the audience was more than ready to be amazed.
At the beginning of 2024, the 25-year-old cardist phenomenon returned to her home state of New York for her first set of solo shows. Aptly titled, “Queen of Cards,” DeGuzman showcased her stellar talent enchanting the audience through her mesmerizing tricks and routines. The Filipino-American has showcased her talent on national platforms such as America’s Got Talent and Penn & Teller, along with international programs like Australia’s Got Talent.
Last year, DeGuzman earned her way to America’s Got Talent Season 18 finals with her spellbinding cardistry routines. And while she may have been runner-up, the loss surely hasn’t deterred her. Since her AGT debut, the cardist has earned 156K Instagram followers, 30.7K subscribers on YouTube, and over 725.5K followers on TikTok. She has also collaborated with prominent artists and influencers such as rapper Lil Uzi Vert in videos stunning them with her magical talent. Now in 2024, DeGuzman has not only accomplished debuting her very own solo show but has since returned to America’s Got Talent for AGT: Fantasy League.
On Saturday, January 26th, DeGuzman hosted her first two solo shows in downtown Manhattan at the iconic Mastercard Midnight Theatre for one night only. Dozens of fans, card enthusiasts, and those looking to experience the magic gathered at the theatre to be mystified by DeGuzman and her act. Throughout the show, DeGuzman interacted with the audience inviting them to be a part of the trick instead of just witnessing it. Being up close and personal, the selected participants were immersed in DeGuzman’s mystifying magical world.
From tricks featuring the Rubik’s Cube to testing the power of connection, the audience experienced the show of a lifetime seeing the cardist extraordinaire showcase her natural talent. Whether it was shocking guests with inexplicable tricks to providing smooth-flowing comedic timing, the show went off without a hitch and the audience fell in love with DeGuzman more and more. When DeGuzman revealed her final trick, there was a deep sadness that hung in the air wishing that her routine could go on forever. Receiving a standing ovation, DeGuzman said goodbye to the crowd of friends, family, and new-found followers in hopes that it would be the start of something new.
As her talent continues to grow, DeGuzman harbors one hope: 'To return to New York City for a residency.' Hopefully, in the near future, DeGuzman will captivate audiences with enchanting magic and cardistry tricks in New York City every night through a residency. This will further solidify her reputation as the Queen of Cards in NYC and beyond.
